A VISION FOR ALL OF US

  • YOUTH AND FAMILY EMPOWERMENT

There is no version of Saint Louis that thrives while our youth and families struggle to secure their basics. As a BOE member I have seen first hand that this is the harsh reality for far too many.

    • I am in support of expanding early education. SLPS provides early education for those 3 and older but there is still a huge gap and childcare is one of the largest barriers for those in the workforce.

    • I will work to expand access to recreation centers. Our youth deserve safe places they can go to develop their talents and explore their interests.

    • I support the expansion of community schools - schools which operate late into the evening and serve as resources to the community with services from GED classes to washer and dryer access and food pantries.

    • I will work for the expansion of the Special School District to the City. Families should not have to leave to access the education services their child needs.

    • I want to support and expand the College Kids Children Savings Account program.

    • I support family paid leave policies and investments.

  • EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT

Our city can be a place of economic prosperity for all. We can have thriving development that doesn’t displace our neighbors, and that supports small businesses like the majority of the businesses in the seventh.

    • As your alderperson, I will be 100% committed to making decisions about our community with our community. I promise to bring every project before the community and ensure there is a space for direct engagement before any vote or recommendation.

    • We need more resources and support for small businesses, including access to equity and loans, especially for community/minority/women/immigrant owned businesses.

    • I am committed to ensuring that development projects that receive public subsidies provide public benefit.

    • I support A Red Tape Commission composed of small businesses that would review, and provide feedback on licensing, permits, city codes, zoning, etc. to ensure that City Hall has policies and processes that are of benefit to small businesses.

    • I am committed to Participatory Budgeting - Engaging residents in prioritizing how money is spent in our city and giving residents a direct say in how City funds are spent.

  • A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO PUBLIC SAFETY

Equity can’t exist without safety. Crime is one of the top issues in our city, and it’s time we take a holistic approach to public safety that gets to the root of crime, which has a direct relationship with poverty.

    • I will work to eradicate poverty through policies like universal Guaranteed Income Program, which will allow households support in securing their necessities.

    • I support programs like Cops & Clinicians, dispatching mental health professionals, and providing resources to programs like Cure Violence and other community violence intervention programs.

    • I support the development of a traffic enforcement agency to help create safer streets, and free police resources to focus on violent crime.

    • I will fight for increased support for mental health & addiction services, needle exchanges, and more.

    • I support the end of predatory cash bail practices that lead to those of lower economic classes being criminalized and kept in jail while awaiting trial.

    • I want to support infrastructure improvements that prioritize the safety needs of our community, the creation of a city wide infrastructure plan for streets, and a comprehensive approach to traffic violence.

  • EQUITY AND INCLUSIVITY

Our city should be a place where all of us can thrive. Everyone deserves to identify themselves for themselves, and to be treated with respect, compassion, and dignity. I am an ally to the LGTBTQIA+ community, believe in racial justice as a practice, am a fierce advocate for reproductive rights, and support our immigrant neighbors.

    • Access to abortion is a human right, and the choice of abortion should be at the sole discretion of the individual. I support the Restorative Justice Fund to support abortion access locally and for those who must travel to seek care.

    • I support establishing strict regulations, within the confines of Missouri state preemption laws, for crisis pregnancy centers (also known as “fake clinics”) that spread misinformation and promote shame surrounding reproductive healthcare decisions.

    • I support building a local registry of mental and physical care providers that are LGBTQIA+ friendly and that offer gender-affirming care.

    • Trans rights are human rights.

    • All public buildings should have gender neutral restrooms.

    • I am an unapologetic supporter of LGBTQIA+ people of color, and specifically transgender women of color, who are more likely to experience violence and discrimination, poverty, and unemployment as a result of their intersecting identities.

    • I support fully funding and staffing the City’s Department of Health to address the City’s rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), which are among the highest in the nation.

  • HOUSING AS A HUMAN RIGHT

The Affordable Housing Report Card found a deficit of 35,000 affordable housing units in our city. The Seventh Ward’s development can be one that decreases this deficit, working to provide accessible, affordable, and family-focused housing.

    • I will fight for a Tenant Bill of Rights, to hold landlords accountable, and to make legal support available to residents who are in unsafe living conditions.

    • I support the creation of an Unhoused Bill of Rights. We can support our unhoused neighbors without criminalizing them or attempting to ban their existence.

    • I will push for inclusionary zoning policies to ensure residents are able to stay in their communities as housing prices increase.

  • EFFICIENT CITY SERVICES

Residents should not have to worry about if the city will do one of our basic duties which is to provide efficient services.

    • Trash collection should not have to be something that any resident has to worry about. I am in support of transitioning to universal dumpsters to allow for us to more efficiently collect waste, and reduce replacement costs and delays.

    • I support increasing pay and benefits for all city workers, including supporting a citywide minimum wage of $15 an hour.
